In the Book of Genesis, Asher (אָשֵׁר, Standard Hebrew Ašer, Tiberian Hebrew ʾĀšēr) is a boy of Jacob and Zilpah, and a founder of the Tribe of Asher.

Asher comes from either Ashar meaning "happy". Ashar is too the place inside Palestine.

In his deathbed, Jacob blesses Asher by saying that his land would make 'rich bread' & 'kickshaw' (Genesis 49:20).de:Asser
